When a nation-wide crisis occurs, millions of people across the country may be displaced. Of course, in any event, the government will be there to bail out city dwellers, if and when things get bad enough. Your local law enforcement, other agencies and organizations may lend a hand. Hell, even the UN may step in (god forbid), but lets say for this scenario, those entities either no longer exist, do not have your best interests in mind, or are possibly even the cause or contributing factor of this crisis.
The “Golden Horde” does not refer to a local populace, a small town, or even a city. This means the entire country. Many millions of people rely on the supply chain, city water supply, city sewage, and other things to keep them fed and clean. When these things disappear, they will get desprate. Perhaps you are among these people. There's nothing wrong with that. However, if this is you, now is the time to change that and prepare for these things to disappear.
Looting, pillaging, and burning will occur within the first week of the infrastructure they rely on disappearing. After everything in the city is gone, they will move in droves to the suburbs, and eventually, the countryside. If you live in the suburbs, know the gates surrounding your community cannot and will not stop a horde of hungry people. They WILL come to take your stuff.
Think of the past few years. Even WITH these systems in place, riots occur. Remember the summer of 2020. Looting, burning, jumping on cars and flipping them over (sometimes with people in them), breaking glass windows of businesses, shooting at people, throwing bricks through windows, and punching out and killing old men and ladies because they were the wrong color. Now think of how much worse it will be when these folks lose access to food stamps and running water.
Millions of people, desperate and devoid of basic necessities, will pour out of the cities. They are the Golden Horde. Some are simply trying to survive, but many pose a grave threat. Among them are:
Group A: The Desperate Dad: These are ordinary people, often family men, driven to desperate measures to protect their loved ones. They might turn to scavenging or even violence to ensure their survival.
Group B: The Thugs: This group is composed of hardened criminals, opportunists, and those with a penchant for violence. They will exploit the chaos for their own gain, often through looting, theft, and intimidation.
Group C: The Entitled: These are individuals who have lived sheltered lives, expecting society to cater to their every need. When the system collapses, they will become a burden, demanding resources and protection without contributing to the community.
As the situation deteriorates, people will flee the cities in waves:
The Prepared: A group who have anticipated the collapse and taken steps to ensure their survival. They have stockpiled supplies, secured a remote location, and developed essential skills.
The Wealthy Survivors: This group consists of affluent individuals with resources to retreat to safe havens, such as vacation homes or private properties. They may possess firearms and other assets that give them an advantage.
The City Leechers: Relatives and friends of those living in rural areas will seek refuge, hoping to be provided for. While some may be genuine, others will exploit the situation to their benefit.
The Desperate Masses: This is the largest and most dangerous wave. Composed of people from all walks of life, they will be driven by desperation and fear. Many will be armed and willing to use violence to obtain what they need.
